Independent

So my independent is based off African tribes, particularly Eastern African Tribes from the Omo Valley, near Ethiopia and the Kenya region. I've looked at everything from their faces, to their paint, scarification, jewelry. I want to work with soft, fleshy leathers, like deerskin and elk. They are extremely soft leathers that mould easily and just give nice shape. I also want to play around with volume and shape. Different ways to weave the leather, trupunto, things of that nature.

Rothko

In love with Rothko. I love his philosophy behind his painting. How just the pure color was supposed to evoke or stir an emotion in the viewer. It wasn't about the actual painting, but about the emotions of the viewer. Beautiful. I kind of want to use that in my bags/ belts. Keep them simple, but have the shapes, color or functionality evoke emotion and a love for the bag/belt.

She is amazing! A Brazilian designer I found that really plays up on textures and different materials. I'm really curious as to how she constructed the mirror shoe.. it's beautiful. Well photographed too.

Also.. AraJo

This guy reminds me of Alexander McQueen. Really cool bondage concepts. I think it's very inventive, provocative and beautiful. Plus he also clothed Lady GAGA..

First Entry

Alrighty, so this is just supposed to chronicle my research and inspiration process for my accessories classes. It seems pretty proficient, so uhh, here we go! The first few posts will probably just be random artists/designers I find interesting or images or things of that nature.,, so we shall see!!
